Pyramid Valley Race
Race the Valley Chase the Cash
Sat 24 January 2026 • Sefton, Waimakariri • 8:30am start
North Canterbury’s money-moving handicap. Fast. Wild. Surprisingly tactical.
This one starts like a classic Sefton Block burner, then heads out past Amberley and into the rolling, honest hills toward Pyramid Valley — including a few pinchy little kickers that’ll have you questioning your life choices (briefly… until the descent fixes your attitude).
It’s a fast handicap, but with a twist: the prize money moves. Catch the bunch in front and you can nick 50% of their pot. Get caught from behind and you lose 50% of yours. It’s basically Monopoly… but with lactic acid.
Big prize money
Over $2,000 prize pool: $100 Hub Cycles Voucher First Woman, $100 Hub Cycles Voucher Fastest , $300 Hub Cycles Voucher First Across the Line. $200 Scotty Brown 1st Junior Home
10 × $100 Mark Pots (one pot per mark — and yes, it shifts hands)
Real racing, open roads
Rolling North Canterbury tarmac — fast early pace, then the Pyramid Valley pinches. Open-road racing: ride to NZ road rules, give way when required. Marshals guide the flow, they don’t stop traffic.
Community shout‑out
Huge thanks to Pringle Homes and our brilliant volunteers for making this race possible. If you’ve ever marshalled a corner in the wind… you’re basically a saint.
